I Love Women!

Straight up, I love females. For that reason, I am going to post bands that have sweet ladies in them. I'm not trying to objectify these fine creatures, I'm just representing that girls are the reason we are all alive. We couldn't have done it without you.

Love,
Boys everywhere
(and Girls too)

RVIVR

RVIVR is a dope band from Olympia, WA for people that like pop punk bands like Hot Rod Circuit, Jawbreaker, Against Me!, and so on. There are two girls in this band too so it is twice as good.

This is their full length that they just released buy it from them after you give it a listen here.

WEED HOUNDS

Weed Hounds is from New York......I think. I couldn't find the final word on it. Either way I like their dreamy indie pop shoegazey sound, and their name is only an added bonus. I only have their ep they put out recently with two songs on it. They also have a split with Japan Dude but I'm not putting that up right now because I don't have it. It is good though.
And here is their album Beach Bummed.

EGGPLANT

Eggplant also has two sweet seductresses in their late 90's brit pop band. This record is a 7" called I Believe in the Lochness Monster. Listen to it and find me some more kthnxbye.
Um.....yeahhhh.

Back from Vacation

I had to stay an extra day on a cruise ship because of the hurricane. That might sound good to some people, a free extra day, but the weather was really shitty the whole time and it's difficult being a vegetarian in a meat eating world. I still had a lot of fun. My girlfriend and I rented a scooter and drove all over the island of Cozumel which was really awesome but I did get sunburned on my thighs from driving around. I want to make a few posts but they will have to wait till tommorow, I got some sea legs at the moment and I'm on another planet. I will however leave a youtube video of some good friends of mine in a band called Marriage Material. They are all the coolest dudes people I know in Texas and I want them to play some more shows so I can go. Anyways, like I said, I'm pretty fucked right now and just trying to end this so uhh errr ummm bye.

Polvo - Today's Active Lifestyles

Polvo is a band from Chapel Hill, NC starting back in 1990. They have been genrelized as a math rock band but it is a little more than that. Polvo really reminds of another Chapel Hill band, Archers of Loaf. If the chicken came first however, then Polvo would be the chicken in this case, and damn I'm hungry for some eggs. And potatoes. I'm the type of guy you could give a gourmet meal to and I squirt ketchup ALL over it, sooo.... I'll take some ketchup with my Polvo. To me it sounds like a mix of Pavement and Archers of Loaf, which certainly isn't a bad thing. This album is the only one I have but there are a few others.

Listen to it here.

Moss Icon

If you like Black Flag, Minor Threat, Embrace, or Husku Du you will probably love this. Moss Icon is a pretty dark, political, and spontaneous hardcore punk band from 1986-1991. I only am giving up two albums right now, that is all you need to focus on for the moment. If you haven't listened to than it's going to be one of your new favorite bands. So let it soak in.

Here they are.

Leather - Anchorite

This is a new band from Philly. I kept getting signs that I need to get my hands on this one and I'm glad I finally did because it is rough and the lyrics and vocals are what we intellectuals call ehhhemmm fucking awesome. Yeah I'm no philistine, I have like, ya know, a more bigger vocabulary than you. And I like, get stuff done, ehemm (coughing from inhalation of.....), don't judge me, just start listening you dumdum.

Here is Anchorite.

Dazzling Killmen - Recuerda

These St. Louisians(?) were mean dude. Well I don't know about them personally but their mathy post-rock music sounds really pissed off. Could be because they live in Missouri, yeah, I'd bet money on that. Could be that they started in 1990, that despicable hollow man Ronald Reagan was just getting out for that slimy worm George Bush to slip right in. Eck. That probably pissed a lot of people off. Either way they all accomplished on making one creepy sounding album. The bass in the first song sends shivers up my spine. I want to say yuck, but I feel like I'm drawn to the yuck. Know what I mean? I'm beginning to think this might be a must have.

Either way, here is Recuerda.

Slint

Slint is probably one of the most important post-rock bands. The quartet is from Louisville, KY and they began in 1986. They peaked around 1991 and I think still might play the occasional money making gig. The two albums in this download are Spiderland and Tweez.

Here you go.

Chalk Talk

This is a new fun mathy trio. These dudes from Mass. and give a special shout-out to my hood with a song called "Misquamicut has Bigger Waves" so I definitely support that. Lyrics in one song go something like "do you want peanut butter or nutella, nutella, ohhhhh ooooohhh" so that should tell these guys just like to party. I respect that. Listen to it dumdum.

Here is Killing Spree.

US Maple

Alright, it's been a minute. Too many minutes I think. These four dudes came together in 1995 in Chicago and made some post-noise/math/experimental rock that um....well........it sounds good. What the hell else do you want me to say?

Here are two albums: Long Hair in Three Stages and Talker

Ceremony - Rohnert Park

Ceremony is probably one of the best bands I have ever seen live. Their demo was so heavy, fast, and angry it could instantly drive you to temporary insanity. One time me and my friend Matt saw them as a special guest at an already sold out show. The show was in Providence, RI but people were driving from places farther than Philly. When Ceremony first started playing my friends glasses were immediatly in 2 peices. I think that is my official response to Ceremony, real talk baby. Their newest album still has aspects of what they were but they are moving in a new direction, and I must say, I like. It is a little more out there but it has all the same angst and rage that make this band what it is. Listen to it you big dumdum! Also you should buy this one becuase right now they are doing a pack lp deal with a book that the singer put together which I can assume is fucking awesome. I just bought mine and can't wait for it to arrive.

Come on, you know you can just get it here.

Beastie Boys

Before the Beastie Boys were rappers, they were balls deep in punk. Well, I don't know about balls deep but they did play in a punk/hardcore band. I think this album was recorded in between def jam albums. I like it and think it is definently worth sharing. The album is called Algio e Olio.

Um...so here ya go ya big dumdum.

One Last Wish

This is Guy Picciotto's band after Rites of Spring but before Fugazi. It was short-lived and I have come to believe they didn't really get out of the DC area. The album wasn't released until 1999. It is really groovy post-hardcore shit that people with differential ears can listen to. The album is called 1986.

Get it here dude.

Go It Alone

Heavy melodic hardcore from Canada. Another one of my favorite bands of all time that address the injustice we face internally and externally every day. The last time I saw them was their last show in my area and I almost collapsed getting into it "too hard" during the show. Super cool dudes, super cool discography. I wish they were still around.

This here includes everything I can get my hands on.

Verse

This has been and will always be at the top of the list of my favorite bands. Every album is solid and I really couldn't tell you to listen to any one in particular. Listen to all of them. Verse is a melodic hardcore band from Providence, RI. The singer Sean Murphy used to be the drummer in a band called What Feeds the Fire which is similar to Verse. The lyrics are extremely socially conscience and political to say the least. They broke up in 2009 because the bass player Chris didn't want to be straight edge anymore, at least that is the word. Verse wasn't like a lot of straight edge bands from the area, adhering to militantism and other trends. These guys wanted to make a difference and for the most part I think they did, at least in my life.

Late 80's New York youth crew hardcore. I just said all the best things in one. Super cool dudes that have influenced a lot of bands to this day.

Get it here.....dude.

Lion of Judah

I love this band and I think that anyone loves DC hardcore music will also love this band. I started off with their 7" and later listened to this and was blown away. Really melodic socially conscience hardcore with a raw sounding recording. Very cool.

Here is there LP - Universal Peace.

Big L R.I.P

One of the coolest rappers. Died way too young, not cool.
Download The Big Picture here.

Grazes

Hardcore punk from the UK. Really good, super cool. In England, kids say "safe" instead of "cool". Fact. In fact you might hear it here, or not. Oh yeah it is their demo.

Pirouette

Kind of an indie/mathy/folk type band. CJ Rough Wreath song is awesome.

Here ya go dudes.
